Avon Congregational Church, 6 West Main Street, Avon, CT, will host the Berkshires - based non-profit, Music in Common, on Sunday April 22nd at 1PM for a film screening of two documentary shorts about the global work of the organization.

Culling from 10 years of video archives recorded by volunteers, students, and professionals, From Madness to Music traces the story of Music in Common from its beginnings as an informal backyard jam honoring the life of slain Wall St. Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, to an international non-profit working to bridge divides between communities in conflict. Amplified: Young Voices Rising overviews Music in Common’s work in the United States, bringing together youth of diverse communities including Muslim, Jewish, Christian; immigrant, refugee, American born; and black, white, Hispanic in the organization’s flagship JAMMS program.

The mission of Music in Common is to strengthen, empower, and connect communities through the universal language of music.

Music in Common founder & director,Todd Mack, will lead a talk-back immediately following the screening. The event is part of the ongoing Raise the MIC series that raises awareness and funds for the non-profit.
