Tennis Court Lighting at Avon Middle School

The Tennis Courts Lighting Project at the Avon Middle School is complete. This project was a collaborative effort on the part of Avon Community Recreational Neighborhood, Inc (ACORN), the Town of Avon and Avon Board of Education. It was funded with Capital Improvement funding, grants from The Hoffman Foundation, and  United States Tennis Association, a donation from ACORN, as well as in-kind services.

The system is very easy for players to use. The lights are turned on right at the courts. There is no need for reservations. The lights are programmed to be available for use, 30 minutes before dusk, until 10:00PM, seven days a week. Players will find a push button that activates the lights for one hour intervals. After 55 minutes a strobe will flash indicating that the lights will go out in 5 minutes. Players may then reset the lights for another hour if they wish. Once the lights go out, they need a 15 minute cool down period before players are able to restart.
