Avon, CT - February 26, 2021 - The Avon Village Center Project continues to move forward. The work being done inside the Whole Foods Building is coming along very well. The Planning and Zoning Commission approved signage for the Whole Foods building at its last meeting. That signage is under construction at this time and will take approximately six weeks to complete and then install. The Whole Foods building is scheduled to be ready and turned over to them in May.
The work on the Village Center roads will recommence as soon as the winter weather abates and temperatures allow for the final paving. The exact date for this is dependent on the weather. There will be a good deal of finish work on the roads, stone walls, and sidewalks that need to be completed then as well.
In the meantime Town staff is working diligently with the Town Attorney to complete a complex series of easement documents and maps so that all the necessary utilities are properly located and accessible if repairs are ever needed. The smallest detail could be very expensive if overlooked at this time. These easements and road acceptances will go before the Town Council as soon as they are ready for discussion and action.
Work is progressing on other buildings in Phase 1A. Two buildings are nearly complete on the exterior, while two other retail buildings are finishing up with steel framing at this time. The developer will make known the names of other tenants as soon as possible.
It looks to be a busy spring with the Village Center and other development coming along as well.
