The Avon Free Public Library and The Avon Land Trust will present The Joy of Geocaching: A Virtual Event with Marcellus Cadd on Tuesday, November 2 at 2:00 PM.

Geocaching is the most popular new outdoor game of the 21st century, played by over three million people of all ages worldwide! Participants use navigation tools to find cleverly hidden containers called geocaches in some of the world’s most spectacular locations, in rural areas, and on city streets. There are millions of geocaches in 190 countries waiting to be discovered. There are probably even some near you right now! Geocaching is a fun, inexpensive way for people of all ages to get outdoors and explore.

Marcellus Cadd started geocaching in 2018 and was quickly drawn into its world of treasures. Soon after, he began writing about his experiences in his blog Geocaching While Black. He’s been featured on the Geocache Talk podcast and in The Groundspeak Newsletter, and has been interviewed on NPR. He will talk about his own geocaching adventures, what geocaching means to him, and how to get started in this exciting new hobby shared by over three million people worldwide.

This program is for all ages and will be presented through Zoom. The program will be closed-captioned. Registration is required. To register, or for more information please call the library at 860.673.9712 or visit www.avonctlibrary.info.
