Avon Senior Center

The Avon Senior Center serves a Senior Congregate Meal every Tuesday and Thursday.
We are in need of VOLUNTEERS to help us with serving and cleaning up after the meal.  We feed approximately 40-50 seniors every Tuesday and Thursday and we need your help.  We are asking for volunteers to help once a month, once a week or a few times a month.  Anytime you have to give would be appreciated.  We need volunteers to help between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  This is a great way to give back to the older adult community and give service to the senior center.  Please contact Jennifer Bennett, Avon Senior Center Coordinator at 860-675-4355. 9/2010

If you enjoy gardening there's a wonderful opportunity at the Avon Senior Center to help in the Living Memorial Garden.  Wednesday mornings in the fall and spring volunteers help weed and maintain the lovely garden.  Call Jennifer or Darlene at the Avon Senior Center at 675-4355 to join our Garden Angels. 10/2007

If you don't garden but would like to share your talents, the Avon Senior Center can use your help to answer the phones, help out in the kitchen, set up for programs, take attendance at programs, you name it!  Call Jennifer Bennett, program coordinator at the Senior Center.  675-4355.   10/2007

Friendly Visitor Program  The Friendly Visitor Program is an outreach program for homebound senior and/or disabled residents.  Social Service staff and trained volunteers provide relief from loneliness and isolation by bringing interest, information, and most  importantly a listener.  Visits are usually an hour in length and referrals and volunteers are always welcome and facilitated by flexible hours.  Visitors may take walks, share a cup of coffee or share in hobbies or activities.  Please call the Senior Center at 675-4355 for more information.
