About Us

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the 2023 Farmington Valley MudHogs season. We are looking forward to many activities to serve the communities that make up the Farmington Valley.

The Farmington Valley MudHogs youth tackle, flag  and cheer organization is a growing program comprised of volunteers and youth from the surrounding towns of Farmington, Avon, Burlington, Harwinton, and Canton.

The VISION is to continue the Farmington Valley Mudhog tradition of preparing youth football players and cheerleaders in the valley for the fundamentals of our sport. Preparing them to safely continue to the four high school programs that we serve.

Our MISSION is that the Mudhog nation welcomes and provides the framework to sponsor volunteers that coach, assist, and support the youth football, flag, and cheer programs. We continuously improve this framework so that we refresh our commitment to make a positive impact on the children that represent the future of our community.

We feel we can increase the number of teams at each level in NFL Flag Football and increase the number of teams per squad (C, B, A) in tackle football from one to two over the next three years. We can also increase the number of participants and volunteers in competitive and football game cheer.

We are working on several projects that will affect the Mudhog Nation:

We review the Farmington Valley Mudhogs website regularly and we will use it to inform the communities of actions and activities regarding tackle football, NFL Flag football, and cheer.

We have a social media program going together to reach out. This program will start with Facebook and extend out as we get the bandwidth to do more.

# 1 PRIORITY: We are working on our coaching program in conjunction with USA Football. We require that all tackle coaches are certified through USA Football and we will add Mudhog dimensions and training to assure that the football athletes are progressing from Squad C to B to A. This progression will prepare them to play at the High School football level. Certification is highly encouraged for NFL Flag coaches. We will need to increase the number of qualified and certified coaches by a factor of two over the next three years.

# 2 PRIORITY: We are preparing practice guidelines and skill progression guidelines for all coaches participating in the tackle and NFL Flag Football programs. It is a critical success factor that our program progresses around the coaches and trickles down to the athletes.

Annually, we offer Summer Football Clinic for both tackle and flag players as well as our Cheer program. We are work closely with the town of Farmington and Farmington High School to ensure the highest quality clinics for our young athletes.

Our Facebook site can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/farmingtonvalleymudhogs. Please follow us to receive regular information on tackle, NFL Flag, and cheer.

Final Note: The registration for the all divisions of the MudHog program is a two-step process. The first step is to register in the Farmington Valley Mudhogs website, and this process will lead you to the second step at the Farmington Recreation website. Farmington Recreation handles the billing for the season.

Have a great 2023 and we look forward to seeing you at a Mudhog Nation event.
