Probate Court Has Moved

In 2009, the Connecticut General Assembly passed Public Act 09-1, which reduced the number of probate courts in the state from 177 to 54, effective January 4, 2011. Here in the Farmington Valley, the Avon, Canton, Simsbury, and Granby Probate Courts were consolidated into one court, the Simsbury Regional Probate Court.  The new court is located in the Simsbury Town Hall (933 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury) and will be open during normal Town Hall business hours.  One judge presides over the court, and staff from the consolidating courts are continuing as employees of the new court.

The current probate procedures set forth in the General Statutes, as well as the fee structure for the Probate Courts, remains unchanged.  All of the Avon Probate Court's records are available at the Regional Court.
