Avon Library Film Series: Games!

The Avon Free Public Library presents “The Games” a film series featuring fun and fascinating movies about jigsaw puzzles, chess, and a crossword puzzle competition.

First up is Puzzle on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. A beautiful film that tells the story of a young woman who finds something she’s truly passionate about – jigsaw puzzles! Starring Kelly MacDonald and Irrfan Khan. (2018 ; 1 hr. and 43 min. ; Rated R)

Next is Queen of Katwe on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. starring Lupita Nyong’o and David Oyelowo. Based on a true story of a Ugandan girl whose life changes forever when she discovers she has an amazing talent for playing chess. (2017 ; 2 hrs. and 4 min.; Rated PG)

The series concludes on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. with Wordplay. Comedian Jon Stewart, filmmaker Ken Burns, Yankees pitcher Mike Mussina, former US Presidents – they all do it!  Discover why every week 50 million Americans are addicted to doing crossword puzzles! (2006 ; 1 hr. and 15 min.; Rated PG)
