The Police Department has authorized staff consisting of 35 Sworn Officers, six Civilian Dispatchers, Records/Accreditation manager, Police Records/Systems Coordinator, and the Administrative Secretary. The Department also employs a part-time Animal Control Officer, IT manager and Records Aide. The Police Department is proud to have been awarded national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Fairfax, Virginia, since 1993.

The Department philosophy is Service to the Community. We are proactive and responsive to community concerns and participate in D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), Police Cadets, and the Citizen Police Academy.The Department uses a Juvenile Review Board, offering an alternative to criminal courts by referring youthful offenders meeting certain criteria to the Board for remediation.
