FY 24/25 Landfill/Transfer Station Permit Information

Transfer Station Permit Options: Residential Full- $125.00, Senior Full-       (> 62 years old ) - $65.00,  Recycle Only- $40.00. 

2024/2025 Permit Cycle runs from July 1st to June 30, 2025. 

Online Permit sales (recommended) begin on June 24, 2024.  Online payment alternatives are Debit/Credit Card, or  E-Check, via the following hyperlink:

Direct in-person payments via cash or check, at two locations:  Avon Collector of Revenue Office (Building 2) and Landfill/Transfer Station Office.  

Physical permit tags will  be issued at either location during normal business hours.

If permits are purchased online, please allow 2 business days before picking up, at either location, and  please present your government issued ID at time of pick up.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?

FY 24/25 permits will become active upon date of purchase. The permit year will run from time of pickup until June 30, 2025. There will be no discount or prorating of permit costs for any Residents who choose to purchase their permit at a later point in time.

One Day Permit Passes and Replacement Permits may be purchased at the Landfill/ Transfer Station Office during regular business hours.

If you run into any issues, questions, or concerns regarding the permit purchase process, please contact the Transfer Station at 860-673-3677 or Collector of Revenue at 860-409-4306, during operating hours.

Landfill: Tuesday AND Friday: 7:30 to 2:30; Saturday: 7:30 to 1:00

Collector of Revenue: Monday – Friday : 8:30 – 4:30

Summer Hours:  June 24th - August 23rd

Monday – Thursday:  8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Friday:  8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Fiscal Year 2024-25 fees have remained unchanged since 2021! A full listing is available here.

The following items do not require a permit and are free to AVON Residents Only:

Electronics
Mattress/Box Springs
Antifreeze
Motor Oil
Appliances with Freon
Paint (Open April 1st - October 1st)

For all other items, ONLY residents with a valid permit shall have access to the Transfer Station.  

Transfer Station Hours of Operation:

Tuesday AND Friday:  7:30am to 2:30pm
Saturday: 7:30am to 1:00pm

**Supervision of all children by an adult, parent or guardian is required while at the Transfer Station. **

No non-residential establishments shall have access.

All fees offset the cost of transportation and processing of all materials (including recyclables).
