Individuals seeking to engage in solicitor, peddler or hawker activities within the Town of Avon are required to obtain a permit to do so from the Avon Police Department. These activities include individuals or organizations going from town to town or from place to place within the same town selling or bartering, or carrying for sale or barter, or exposing therefore, any goods, wares or merchandise, either on foot or from any vehicle.
Exemptions to the permit requirements include;
- Persons invited by the owner or occupant of a premise to vend thereon, as long as such use is permitted under current zoning regulations.
- Persons vending in conjunction with a special event conducted in Avon, provided that a special events permit has been issued by the town and further provided that said person is an authorized participant in the special event.
- Food Vendors will need to comply with the regulations or requirements stipulated by the policies of the Farmington Valley Health District (FVHD)
