Adopted Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan

bicycle pedestrian master plan
At its March 7th meeting, the Town Council adopted the Town’s Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan. The adopted Plan has been made available on the Department of Planning & Community Development page HERE.

By way of background, this Plan is the product of approximately twelve months of effort by the Town Council, staff, the Town’s consultant SLR and members of the public. The planning process included a significant amount of public outreach including three public meetings in April, June and September 2023 as well as a series of monthly survey questions released through the Town’s website and social media channels. The Town also welcomed and encouraged public comment and we received feedback from many residents through email and phone throughout the process.

The Draft Plan was presented to the Town Council in February 2024 and a month-long comment period was opened to give the public the opportunity to weigh in on the document in its entirety.  We are very appreciative of all those that took the time to call us, write to us, respond to survey questions, and attend public meetings. The final document represents a true community effort and reflects many voices and opinions.

Looking ahead, it is very important to note that the Master Plan is intended to be a guiding document for the Town over the long term (10+ years). While some of the projects identified are relatively low cost and easy to implement in the near term (< 5 years), many of the larger, more significant projects outlined will require further study to determine feasibility, engineering, permitting, public engagement, and funding acquisition. The Plan is a guide for what is possible for the community and will help the Town Council and Town staff to identify priorities and be prepared to take advantage of opportunities as they arise.
