Please Help Us Clear Snow from Fire Hydrants!

fire hydrant clearing
The Avon Volunteer Fire Department (AVFD) is looking for your help.  Due to the recent snow fall many fire hydrants are now buried in the snow.  The AVFD asks residents and business owners to adopt a hydrant and please keep it clear and visible.  If you believe there is a hydrant close by but cannot locate it, please call the Fire Marshal’s office at (860) 409-4316 or your local water company.  We appreciate your assistance.

The AVFD also recommends that homeowners clear snow and ice away from the bottom of their down spouts on their home.  As the weather warms and the snow melts, the water needs to flow away from the home versus entering it.

Another reminder: clear snow away from all exits of your home in case of an emergency.
