FY 23/24 LANDFILL PERMITS – AVAILABLE NOW!

FY 23/24 LANDFILL PERMITS – AVAILABLE NOW!

Please be advised that Transfer Station Permits (Residential [$125], Senior [$65], and Recycling Only [$40]) for the Fiscal Year 2023/2024 (begins July 1, 2023) are now available for purchase.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR A PERMIT?

Similar to last year, permit applications and payments are available through the OpenGov Citizen Services / Viewpoint Cloud Application at the following link: https://avonct.viewpointcloud.com/categories/1072 .

To apply for a permit, you will need to create a user account with OpenGov or to sign into an existing OpenGov account. If you have already used this platform to apply for a permit through the Town’s Transfer Station, Building Office, Fire Marshal’s Office or Engineering Department, or to apply for permits in another town, you should log in with your existing credentials. There is no need to create a new account.

Please complete the online permit application process BEFORE coming to the Landfill to pick up your permit tag. Payment must be received by the Town before a physical permit tag is issued. Once the application is completed, please bring a copy of your receipt (print or electronic) to the Transfer Station Office to pick up your permit tag. If you are purchasing a Senior Permit, please bring proof of your age when you pick up your tag.

We ask the public to do its best to complete the permit application process in one sitting. If you do need to stop the process and revisit it at a later date, please take care to look in your account to find the “in-progress” record. Otherwise, a new permit and permit number will be generated, and permit tags will be wasted (the permit numbers are pre-printed on the tags). Thank you in advance for your assistance with preventing waste.

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS ARE ACCEPTED?

Payments may be made using cash, physical check, e-check, or credit card. In order to expedite the permitting process, we ask that you follow the following guidelines. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

  • Should you choose to pay with cash, exact change will be required. We also appreciate payments in small bills ($5, $10, $20) rather than large bills ($50+) whenever possible.
  • Check payments should be made out to “the Town of Avon.” We ask that you make out your check before coming to pick up your permit.
  • The Town recommends paying by e-check or credit card. E-checks and credit card payments are subject to a small handling fee. E-checks will incur a flat handling fee of $2.25. Credit card payments will incur a fee of 2.99% plus $0.99 per transaction.
