DMV DELINQUENT TAX RELEASE

In accordance with Sec. 14-33, delinquent motor vehicle taxes shall be reported to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

If your name has been reported to DMV as being delinquent of motor vehicle taxes, you will not be able to register or renew the registration of any motor vehicle(s) associated with your name until all motor vehicle taxes are paid in full and a release is issued by the tax office.

If an immediate DMV release is needed, payment must be made by cash or money order in the Revenue office.   An immediate (Real Time Release) will show at a DMV office immediately but will not show on the DMV website until the following day.  Personal checks and online payments will require 2-3 business days to clear.

If you have a DMV emergency, you must call the office prior to coming to the office or paying online.

If your account is with a collection agency or State Marshal, it will take additional time to clear.
