June 7, 2022 Update
At its June 2nd meeting, the Town Council continued to discuss and receive additional information on ARPA proposals that have been submitted by Town and Board of Education staff and members of the public to date. As of this writing a total of $3,460,100 has been appropriated. Additionally, during its June 2nd meeting, the Town Council approved appropriation requests for three projects totaling approximately $160,000. These projects will now be considered by the Board of Finance on June 27th. A “Proposed Funding Plan” worksheet outlining these approved and proposed projects can be found HERE.
Assuming approval of all pending appropriation requests before the Board of Finance, the Town will have appropriated $3.62 million of its $5.4 million ARPA allocation. A total of about $1.78 million will remain unobligated. Recommendations for the remainder of the funding are listed in gray at the bottom of the Proposed Funding Plan worksheet. At its meeting scheduled for July 28th, we anticipate that the Town Council will receive presentations from Town staff on the following projects: Senior Center Restroom Renovations, Senior Center Cosmetic Improvements, Sycamore Hills Multi-Purpose Room; and Connectivity Plan. We also anticipate that representatives from ACORN and the Avon Little League will attend to present Council with project requests for the Avon High School and Sperry Park. In addition, staff hope to have more information to share with Council about a potential state funding source that may offset the cost of the proposed Town-wide Fiber Network Project.
Staff have begun to take steps to implement projects for which appropriations have been approved. We anticipate that the Town Council and the public will be provided with regular updates on the status of these projects beginning this summer.
