ARPA Update - August 9, 2022

August 9, 2022 Update

The Town Council continues to discuss and receive additional information on ARPA proposals that have been submitted by Town and Board of Education staff and members of the public to date. As of this writing, a total of $3,619,809 has been appropriated. A “Proposed Funding Plan” worksheet outlining approved and proposed projects can be found HERE.

At this time, a total of about $1.79 million of the Town’s ARPA allocation remains unobligated. Recommendations for the remainder of the funding are listed in gray at the bottom of the Proposed Funding Plan worksheet. A pie chart illustrating the distribution of appropriated (approved), proposed and unallocated ARPA funding by functional area can be found below:

At its meeting scheduled for September 1st, we anticipate that the Town Council will receive presentations from Town staff on the following projects: Senior Center Restroom Renovations, Senior Center Cosmetic Improvements, Sycamore Hills Multi-Purpose Room; and Connectivity Plan.   In addition, staff hope to have more information to share with Council about a potential state funding source that may offset the cost of the proposed Town-wide Fiber Network Project.

Staff have begun to take steps to implement projects for which appropriations have been approved. We will provide the Town Council and the public updates on the status of these projects as they become available.

Please contact Grace Tiezzi, Assistant Town Manager, at gtiezzi@avonct.gov or (860) 409-4300 with questions.
