CT Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) provides Telephone Recovery Support (TRS) an innovative peer-to-peer support service. Offering weekly telephone calls to people in recovery to “check in” and see how they’re doing.  Recoverees are given support and encouragement as well as information about community resources, 12-step meetings or other supports that may help them maintain their recovery. Calls are made by trained CCAR volunteers that are, in many instances, in recovery themselves. CALL: 1 (877) 676-CCAR

Rushford at Avon offers varying levels of treatment that adapt to therapeutic needs, with services that range from once-a-week outpatient therapy to intensive outpatient therapy (IOP). **Yoga for Recovery**, by Rushford of Avon, is committed to supporting individuals in recovery and their loved ones. Certified Yoga Instructors donate their time to teach a 45 minute yoga class followed by a 45 minute support group. The class is offered at True North Yoga Studio in Avon at no cost- rather, as a service that is donated by individuals either in recovery or who have been touched by recovery. Short-Term Counseling:  Professional, confidential short-term counseling is available to Avon residents free of charge.  Issues may include personal mental health, family relations, housing, personal finance and medical problems.  Referrals are accepted from self, police, court personnel, churches, parents, schools and other agencies.

Support Groups: Family Support group meets the 3rd Monday of each month from 7-8:30pm at the Valley Community Baptist Church at 590 West Avon Road. It is open to families and friends of people with mental illness, to provide support and encouragement from one another through the sharing of similar experiences, feelings, and challenges encountered when caring for, or interacting with, a loved one with a mental illness.
