ARPA Update - September 6, 2022

September 6, 2022 Update

The Town Council continues to discuss and receive additional information on ARPA proposals that have been submitted by Town and Board of Education staff and members of the public to date.

At its September 1st meeting, the Council received a presentation from the Director of Planning & Community Development on a project proposal request for consulting services to develop a Town-wide Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. We anticipate that a request for proposals for this service will be advertised in the next few weeks.

The Council also received a presentation from Director of Recreation & Parks and an architect on several projects proposed for the Senior Center including an addition to the building dedicated to recreation programming, and restroom renovations and the replacement of ceiling tile, lighting and carpeting in the existing building. A recording of the meeting is available HERE. The ARPA discussion begins at 40:22.

As of this writing, a total of $3,619,809 has been appropriated. It is anticipated that two additional projects totaling $214,000 will be brought forward to the Town Council and Board of Finance for appropriation in October. A “Proposed Funding Plan” worksheet outlining these approved and proposed projects can be found HERE.

Assuming approval of all pending appropriations requests, the Town will have appropriated $3,834,309 of its $5,408,793 ARPA allocation. A total of $1,761,800 will remain unallocated. Recommendations for the remainder of the funding are listed at the bottom of the Proposed Funding Plan worksheet. A pie chart illustrating the distribution of appropriated, proposed, and unallocated ARPA funding by functional area can be found below.
