November 7, 2022 Update
 

The Town Council continues to discuss and receive additional information on ARPA proposals that have been submitted by Town and Board of Education staff and members of the public to date.

At its November 3rd meeting, the Town Council approved appropriations in the amount of $25,000 to the Avon Fuel Bank and $25,000 to the Avon Food Pantry. Funds will be used to provide assistance to residents dealing with fuel and food insecurity. These appropriations will now be considered by the Board of Finance on November 21st. In December, we anticipate that the Town Council and the Board of Finance will consider an appropriation in the amount of $75,000 to fund the development of a Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan to improve connectivity in Avon. This proposal will be presented to the Town Council on December 1st and the Board of Finance on December 12th. In addition, staff hope to have more information to share with Council about potential state funding sources that may offset the cost of the proposed Town-wide Fiber Network Project and the Senior Center Restroom Renovation Project. Assuming approval of all pending requests before the Town Council and Board of Finance for November and December, the Town will have appropriated $3.75 million of its $5.4 million ARPA allocation.  A total of about $1.65 million will remain unobligated. Possible projects for the remainder of the funding are listed in gray at the bottom of the Proposed Funding Plan worksheet.
